Silverstone 2025 is looking in jeopardy

Huge plumes of black smoke from the Exhaust

With only 2 weeks to go the Mortal man Bus took its MOT and passed with flying colours, not even an advisory! We were chuffed.

Houston! we have a problem.

When the bus returned back to MortalMan HQ the journey home was a bit strange to say the least, The Driver noticed huge plumes of black smoke coming from the rear of the bus. DISASTER! The bus would need to be looked at and it looks pretty serious. With only days before final preparations for Silverstone 2025, the mechanics needed to get to work.

Time for surgery

On strip down the mechanics changed a few parts which were pretty gunged up but it made no difference. On further investigation the fuel was checked and it wasn’t good.

The diesel was black! The mechanics called in a specialist. Enter our saviour!

This guru served his time on engines just like ours and got to work…

After spending hours on the engine, fuel lines and tanks, we saw light at the end of the tunnel.

A new hope

From what we can gather the diesel in the tank has been contaminated by corrosion and had entered the fuel lines putting the MortalMan bus on the critical list.

see in this picture the new fresh diesel and the stuff drained from the tanks of our beloved workhorse. Work began to put her back together and with trepidation, the start button was pushed….

…she burst into life, running like an absolute dream.

Silverstone 2025 was back on and with only days to go!
